Last Saturday, December 6, the Bardo State live band saw the light of day! In the afternoon they had their first ever radio gig when playing Tros Muziek Cafe which was broadcast live on Radio 2. Belgian chanteuse extraordinaire Jo Lemaire came all the way over from France to perform the beautiful song 'Paradis'. At night Bardo State delivered a very intimate performance at Amsterdam's supperclub and before that Frank & Dorian did a 2 hour dj-set which got everybody in the mood! Singer Carmen van den Brakel performed 'This Is Not America' which really made an impact and soprano Ruzanna Nahapetjan sang a breathtaking version of 'Sospiro'. With the strings from Teije Hylkema, Floris van Hest and Laura van der Stoep sounding as luscious as ever, with beats as big as you want them to be, with Dorian's bass sounding really deep and with Barry Jurjus playing the piano and percussion like there's no tomorrow it's pretty obvious that the future looks even brighter for Bardo State. Watch out for their next gig! |
